{"id":27721,"date":"2026-02-13T11:49:47","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T11:49:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insider.thewholesalegroup.co.uk\/?post_type=recipe&#038;p=27721"},"modified":"2026-02-13T11:49:49","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T11:49:49","slug":"baked-cream-cheese-spinach-filo-pastry-with-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"recipe","link":"https:\/\/insider.thewholesalegroup.co.uk\/recipe\/baked-cream-cheese-spinach-filo-pastry-with-philadelphia\/","title":{"rendered":"Baked Cream Cheese &amp; Spinach Filo Pastry with Philadelphia\u00ae\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Serves:<\/strong> 8<br><strong>Time:<\/strong> 1 hour 15 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients:\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 pack filo pastry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>400 g spinach (chopped &#8211; frozen or fresh)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>150 g Philadelphia Original Soft Cream Cheese<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>150 g shredded Emmental cheese<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 tbsp butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp olive oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 bunch toasted sesame seeds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method:\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remove Fillo from freezer, allow to defrost for 1\/2 hr.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pre-heat the oven to 160 degrees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take frozen chopped spinach and cook it for 10 minutes or so until it is fully defrosted. Put it in a colander and squeeze out every little bit of water you can. You could even use a paper towel to get all the water out.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a large mixing bowl, combine the spinach, the eggs, the cream cheese, and the Emmental. Add salt and pepper to taste and mix well until blended. Then add a little more salt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Melt the butter in a bowl and add 1 tbsp olive oil to it. Mix with a pastry brush.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take a 9&#215;12 baking tray and butter the bottom and sides with the pastry brush.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unfold your filo, the sheets should be exactly 9&#215;12. Place the sheets one by one in the baking dish. After every other one, brush the filo with the butter mixture. In all, put down 8 sheets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add in the spinach mixture, spread evenly. Then cover with 8 more sheets, continuing to butter every other one. On the last one, brush again with butter, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. You can also use grated Parmesan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cook in the oven for about 40 minutes, until it begins to brown on top. Remove from oven and let rest for at least 20 minutes.
