{"id":21759,"date":"2023-11-16T15:39:06","date_gmt":"2023-11-16T15:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insider.fairwayfoodservice.com\/?post_type=recipe&#038;p=21759"},"modified":"2024-02-27T15:53:24","modified_gmt":"2024-02-27T15:53:24","slug":"gingerbread-christmas-biscuits","status":"publish","type":"recipe","link":"https:\/\/insider.thewholesalegroup.co.uk\/recipe\/gingerbread-christmas-biscuits\/","title":{"rendered":"Gingerbread Christmas \u00a0biscuits"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">INGREDIENTS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>450g plain flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairwayfoodservice.com\/own-brand\/cooking-condiments\/herbs-spices\/ground-ginger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1 tbsp ground ginger (fairway)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/ground-cinnamon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2 tsp ground cinnamon&nbsp;(fairway)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairwayfoodservice.com\/own-brand\/cooking-condiments\/herbs-spices\/ground-ginger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">140 butter (room temp) (fairway)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>165g dark brown sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 egg yolks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>160g golden syrup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u20132 tbsp milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For the royal icing:<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4&nbsp; egg whites&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>500 icing sugar&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 tbsps lemon juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">METHOD<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar and mix in rest of the ingredients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wrap dough in cling film (fairway) and rest for 30 mins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preheat the oven to&nbsp; 180\u00b0C\/Gas 6 and line a baking tray<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cut out shapes and put on the tray.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bake for 8 minutes until golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To make the icing,&nbsp; whisk the egg white in a large, clean bowl until frothy. Add the icing sugar and beat until smooth and thick. .<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add the lemon juice through a tea strainer and continue beating until smooth and glossy. The icing should be smooth and not too stiff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;If grainy add small drops of cold water until smooth.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>To decorate the biscuits, fit a piping bag with a No. 2 nozzle and fill with the white royal icing.
