{"id":14320,"date":"2022-10-17T12:08:39","date_gmt":"2022-10-17T11:08:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insider.fairwayfoodservice.com\/?post_type=recipe&#038;p=14320"},"modified":"2023-09-07T19:26:59","modified_gmt":"2023-09-07T18:26:59","slug":"baked-christmas-alaska","status":"publish","type":"recipe","link":"https:\/\/insider.thewholesalegroup.co.uk\/recipe\/baked-christmas-alaska\/","title":{"rendered":"Baked Christmas Alaska"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>450ml&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/insider.fairwayfoodservice.com\/own-brand\/sweets-desserts\/ice-cream\/dairy-madagascan-vanilla-ice-cream-4-litre\/\">vanilla ice cream<\/a><\/li><li>200g Christmas pudding<\/li><li>1 8\u201d Victoria sponge<\/li><li>4 measures brandy<\/li><li>4 egg whites<\/li><li>250g caster sugar<\/li><li>200ml stock syrup<\/li><li>50ml water<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:45px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Slice sponge horizontally into 3.<\/li><li>Add 3 measures of brandy to the stock syrup.<\/li><li>Place one of the sponge layers on a baking tray and brush over with some of the syrup.<\/li><li>Mix ice cream and Christmas pudding together and place in the centre of the sponge, leaving 1 cm around the outside.<\/li><li>Use the remaining sponge to cover the entire Christmas pudding ice cream.&nbsp; Brush with the remaining brandy syrup and place in the freezer.<\/li><li>Boil the water and sugar for 1 minute.<\/li><li>In a mixer, whisk the egg whites until at the \u2018ribbon\u2019 stage, then slowly pour in the dissolved sugar.&nbsp; Whisk until peaked.<\/li><li>Place the meringue in a piping bag and pipe over the Christmas Alaska, making a little hollow at the top.<\/li><li>Bake in a hot oven at 225\u00b0C (Gas 7) for 5 minutes until brown.<\/li><li>Warm the remaining brandy, pour into the hollow at the top of the baked Alaska and ignite with a match.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ingredients 450ml&nbsp;vanilla ice cream 200g Christmas pudding 1 8\u201d Victoria sponge 4 measures brandy 4 egg whites 250g caster sugar 200ml stock syrup 50ml water Method&nbsp; Slice sponge horizontally into 3.
